This summer, over 130 research assistants are working on campus and remotely with faculty mentors in 25 departments. Below are workshops and resources for SRAs. See more information about becoming a Middlebury Research Assistant.

Summer Research Welcome Luncheon

Welcome lunch for summer research assistants and their faculty mentors. Join us for a casual meal of pizza and salads. Please arrive at noon to make sure options are available or bring your lunch and relax with researchers on the patio.

Updating Your Resume: Highlighting Your Research and Other Transferrable Skills

Make the most of your summer research experience by learning to leverage your new skills and update your resume. Mary Lothrop from the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research will present for summer researchers (STEM and non-STEM!) in MBH 117. for the lunch.

STEM Fellowships

Learn about fellowships for STEM students and young alumni. This includes the Goldwater, NSF GRFP, UK fellowships and more. Fellowships support graduate study and post-graduate research. Lunch provided—sign up in advance!  for the lunch.

Fun SRA Activities

Board Game Nights

Greg Pask (Biology) will be organizing game nights. All are welcome. Bring your favorite games. Snacks will be provided by Undergraduate Research.

Meet with a CCI Advisor

Summer is a great time to talk with a CCI advisor about your interests, your research work and potential professional pathways. and make an appointment on Handshake with one who aligns with your interest areas.

Explore Nationally Competitive Fellowships

Review opportunities available at go/fellowships and make an appointment to talk with Dean Gates about specific fellowships of interest during the summer. Student researchers are excellent candidates for fellowships like Goldwater, Truman, NSF GRFP, Fulbright fellowships, and other post-graduate opportunities. 

LinkedIn Learning

Middlebury has an institutional subscription to LinkedIn Learning providing free access to thousands of courses on technology, software and web development, business, and design or tutorials on skills in software like Excel and the Adobe suite, or writing a resume or cover letter. It is a great resource to check out.
