ITS uses a computer distribution process called . For more details, see our documentation on the .

Here’s how it works:

  • Initial contact
    • New employees: The new employee’s supervisor (or a department head where the new employee will be working) follows the HR process by to request equipment for the new employee.
    • Current employees: ITS contacts the customer when their computer is due for replacement.
  • A machine is purchased from either Lenovo or Apple.
  • Hardware information about the computer is sent directly to our cloud-based management system.
  • ITS contacts the user when their device is ready for pick-up.
  • The user picks up their computer and any additional requested equipment from the Helpdesk walk-in located in Davis 202.
  • The user can either follow our to setup their device, or schedule a deployment session for assistance with setup.

This process allows for a more secure product and a more consistent experience for our users. 

Other than the , all customization happens after the machine has been deployed to the customer.  If a user needs software which isn’t included by default, please visit our for more information on downloading the applications necessary for work at Middlebury: see the list of and .  Users can also use the search box to look for any specific applications that are not listed in either of those groups.
