Move In
We are excited to welcome you to campus!
When is Move-in Day for Fall Arrivals?
- Move-in Day for fall arrivals is Monday, September 1, 2025. You should arrive on campus between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
- If you’re participating in an early arrivals program such as Introduction to Data, or if you’re a new student athlete, you may have an earlier move-in date. Please reach out to these offices or your coach for more information.
- All students, including those participating in early arrival programs, will participate in New Student Orientation. All students will have their first Orientation event at 3:00 PM with their Orientation Groups. A full schedule can be found here. Orientation begins on Monday, September 1, 2025 and lasts a full week, ending on Sunday, September 7. Classes begin the following Monday, September 8.
- Programs for families will take place on Monday, September 1, 2025. A full schedule for families can be found here.
- If you or family members need accessibility support on Move In Day, our can provide assistance getting to and from events.
Arrival Logistics
When Can I Arrive On Campus?
- Move-In Hours: 9:00 AM–12:30 PM
- Welcome Stations Hours: Open until 1:00 PM.
- Battell Hall (new) Residents: Arrive during your assigned time to reduce wait times. You may arrive at other times during move-in hours, but your wait time may be longer.
- Even-numbered rooms: Arrive between 9:00–10:45 AM.
- Odd-numbered rooms: Arrive between 10:45 AM–12:30 PM.
- Burlington Airport shuttle arrivals: You’ll be dropped off at the Mahaney Arts Center. Staff will direct you to the appropriate Welcome Center. An will be available.
- Please Note:
- No one is allowed to move in before 9 AM.
- If extenuating circumstances result in your arriving after 1:00 PM, please email orientation@middlebury.edu or call 1-802-443-3006 immediately to update us on your travel.
Once I Arrive, Where Do I Check In?
- International, Transfer and Exchange students: check-in at the Mahaney Arts Center. Follow the “Mahaney Arts Center, New Student Check-in” signs. International first year students will check in with ISSS staff at Mahaney first. Staff will be on site to guide you to your next stop.
- Battell Hall (new), Battell North, Center or South: Follow signs to Holding Lot-R. Staff will direct you to your residence hall and Welcome Center in front of your specific Battell building.
- Hepburn Hall students: Follow signs to Holding Lot-S. Staff will direct you to your residence hall and Welcome Center at Hepburn Hall.
- Once at your Welcome Center, you will receive your Welcome Packet, Student ID, and pin code for your room. You will not be able to access your housing or receive your student ID without checking in.
- Label all your belongings with your name, residence hall, and room number. Review our previous email regarding packing tips for a smooth arrival process.
- Once checked in at your Welcome Center, you will immediately begin unloading your vehicle. Please keep a family member with the vehicle at all times.
- We will have volunteers on site to help you unload and move items into your room. This process will go quickly to allow for an efficient arrival and unloading process for all. Vehicles must be moved immediately after they are unloaded.
Where Do I Go After I Check In and Unloading My Belongings?
After your vehicle is unloaded, you’ll be directed to post move in day parking in Lot Q behind the Mahaney Arts Center. Signage and staff will guide you to these locations. After parking, you can return to your residence hall and finish unpacking and settling in. An will be available to take you back, or you can walk through campus.
