Library Mews: Shinku
| by Leanne Galletly
Our cats have been Zoom-bombing since 2020, and it’s about time they get the spotlight they deserve. In this fun series, we will introduce you to the felines owned by Middlebury Library staff.
We’re nearly at the end of our fanatic cat posts.
Name: Cleo
Age: 6-ish
Coloration / Breed:
Black, domestic short hair
Place of Origin:
in Middlebury
Adopted by:
Rebekah Irwin, Curator and Director, Special Collections
Fun facts:
Cleo is named simultaneously for Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt from 51 to 30 BCE but also one of three high-spirited teenage mermaids from the early 2000s Australian fantasy TV drama, (Cleo shares her home with two teenage girls, so there’s that.)
If she had a library card…
Cleo would check out Cecil B. DeMille’s 1934 film epic , to see one of her namesakes on screen in classic film black, white, and grey (her preferred color palette, after all).
Periodically, we’ll feature a new staff cat. To keep up with this series, use the link . If you were hoping to find library news, please visit .
