  • Museum Lecture + Lunch: Artist Rose-Lynn Fisher

    Join us for a talk by Rose-Lynn Fisher, an artist featured in the exhibition, “An Invitation to Awe,” who uses microscope, camera, and mixed media to explore the realms within realms we inhabit, in work that evokes a continuum of interconnections and wonder. Afterward, stay for conversation over a light lunch in the MAC Lower Lobby. This event is free and open to all, but $5 donations are welcome.

    Choreography for Camera Final Showing with Jillian Meyers

    Jillian Meyers is an Emmy Nominated LA based Choreographer who has been an assistant to Brian Friedman, Tovaris Wilson, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Gil Duldulao and Mandy Moore. She worked with Moore on the award winning film La La Land and both herself and Moore earned Emmy nominations for their work on the hit series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Myers has been fortunate to work with leading musical acts such as The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Hozier, Janet Jackson, and more. Ultimately, Jillian loves to dance and is excited by any experience related to her passion.

    Edwin Austin Abbey’s Mural Painting: Context and Conservation

    Theresa Fairbanks Harris, Senior Conservator of Works on Paper at the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art, and Josephine Rodgers, Curator of Collections and Director of Engagement at the Middlebury College Art Museum, will lead a discussion on the conservation treatment and history of Edwin Austin Abbey’s (1852–1911) drawings at Yale University. The treatment was completed in preparation for the ‘The Dance of Life: Figure and Imagination in American Art, 1876–1917’ exhibition now on view at the Yale University Art Gallery.

  • Korean Drumming

    Drop-in to learn to play the traditional Korean percussion genre samulnori. Samulnori blends traditional Korean rhythms into dynamic pieces using four Korean percussion instruments: janggu (hourglass drum), buk (barrel drum), jing (large gong), and ggwaenggwari (small gong). Participants will start by learning technique and basic rhythms and progress to more complex rhythms and sequences. No experience needed!

    College Choir Fall Concert

    College Choir sings a diverse program of conceptual change as depicted in seasonal and transformational metaphor. Pathways of justice are motivating concepts in music by Claudio Monteverdi and André Thomas. Images of the four seasons characterize works by André Thomas, Johannes Brahms, a Taiwanese harvest song by Tsai Yu-Shan, and a winter carol by Abbie Betinis. The concert concludes in metaphysical contemplation with settings of a Sara Teasdale poem by Jocelyn Hagen and an iconic Spiritual by William Dawson. The Choir is joined by student and alumni instrumentalists.

    Artist, Jessica Dickinson Lecture

    Jessica Dickinson will discuss the development of her experimental studio practice, along with recent exhibitions. Deeply invested in abstraction as a way to understand sensations of time and change in lived experience, her work is primarily situated in painting and encompasses drawing, writing, and installations. Exploring durational shifts in light, matter, and perception, she works to offer space for the labor and process of paying attention. Dickinson is based in Brooklyn, NY and has exhibited widely, including the Solomon R.

    This trans-friendly movement workshop is suitable for terrified beginners through all-levels and are led by Sean Dorsey and Sean Dorsey Dance company dancers. These classes and workshops are designed to be supportive of transgender, trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming bodies and creative expression. All gender restrooms are available.
