will return to campus for a conversation moderated by Lomus Pudasaini ‘25 (Economics) and Lillian Caldwell ‘26 (Economics). This discussion explores pathways, out of the current polycrisis, to achieve progress toward eradicating poverty and boosting shared prosperity on a livable planet. The conversation is centered on the findings of the World Bank’s newly released , which provides the first post-pandemic global assessment of poverty and shared prosperity.

Umar Serajuddin is a Manager at the World Bank’s Development Data Group, in charge of its Indicators and Data Services unit. He leads the Bank’s initiative and oversees the management of the . He manages the teams that publish some of World Bank’s most prominent global public goods, including the , the ), the , the and (Development Data Hub). He also coordinates the Bank’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) monitoring initiatives and, most recently, the production of the . Umar holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has published work in the fields of poverty, inequality, and social protection.
