You can make a difference, while working in law, immigration, health, food and nutrition, housing and more! The P&P Summer Internship program fulfills the experiential learning component of the P&P Academic Cluster .

Local Internships

are available at the following organizations:

•  (formerly WomenSafe) - Interns provide support and direct services to individuals impacted by family violence, sexual violence and stalking
•  - Interns support individuals and families working toward stable housing 
• (Helping Overcome Poverty’s Effects) - Interns support the food shelf and assist clients with accessing the network of human services in the county
•  - Interns provide medical translation for Spanish-speaking clients and their health-care providers
•  - Interns work with emergency housing shelter staff to provide safe housing and food to community members who are unhoused
•  - Interns help to plan and deliver summer programming for the teen center camps and daily programs
•  / - This position will split time between the Public Defender’s office and ACRJS, working with clients who are encountering the criminal justice system. For the Public Defender, the intern will work with the client and attorney to help prepare their case for the court process. With ACRJS, the intern will work with clients through the restorative justice process.
• (formerly Addison County Community Trust) - These positions support AHW’s mission to provide affordable housing that supports the wellbeing of community members across the county. The positions will focus on three areas: understanding barriers and developing a plan to establish on-site affordable child care for an AHW housing community, researching options and developing models for promoting accessory dwelling units to increase affordable housing supply, and empowering mobile home park residents to upgrade their homes for efficiency and reduced operating costs. 
• P&P research and analysis (when offered) - working with P&P faculty and staff to support current, community-connected research and analysis on economic inequality.

National Internships

are coordinated through our participation in the summer internship program, and are located in urban and rural settings throughout the United States with agencies that serve in educational, healthcare, immigration, legal, housing, social and economic capacities for the needs of individuals and their communities.

Students who are selected for this internship program will become a part of a Privilege & Poverty cohort that will prepare together during spring semester workshops, participate in the summer internship, regroup for reflection upon return to campus, and bring the knowledge and understanding gained from these experiences to the college community throughout the academic year.
