“One of the best live sounds anywhere
”

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—At 8 p.m. on Friday,
April 27, the Pat McGee Band will make its first appearance of the
year in Vermont in Middlebury College’s Pepin Gymnasium on South Main
Street (Route 30). Percy Hill, a New Hampshire-based rock-jam band,
will open the concert.
In 1996, the Pat McGee Band was
formed in Richmond, Va. The six-piece band’s rich harmonies and
energized acoustic rock have led to its national success. During its
first four years, the group toured extensively and self-released
three discs, nurturing a cult following. At the end of 1999, the band
signed a recording contract with Giant Records, a joint venture with
Warner Brothers Records. “Shine,” the band’s first album on a major
label, was produced by former Talking Head Jerry Harrison and
released in April 2000.
“Runaway,” the first single off
“Shine,” received airplay across the United States, and “Rebecca,”
the latest single off “Shine,” was climbing the charts as of February
2001. Over the years the band has played alongside Jimmy Buffett,
James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Counting Crows and the Wallflowers.
Billboard magazine has lauded the
group for “vibrant, acoustic originals spliced with three-part
harmonies and intelligent melodies.”
Tickets are $10 for general
admission. Beginning April 16, tickets will be available at Sound
Source in Middlebury at 802-388-2755. Beginning April 24, tickets
will also be available at the Middlebury College Center for the Arts
box office at 802-443-6433. Pending availability, tickets will be
sold at the door, which will open one hour prior to the concert.
