Israeli Pianist Alon Goldstein to
Give Lunchtime Recital at Middlebury College Nov. 6
MIDDLEBURY, Vt.The young
Israeli pianist Alon Goldstein will give a lunchtime recital on
Monday, Nov. 6, at 12:15 p.m. in the concert hall of the Middlebury
College Center for the Arts on South Main Street (Route 30).
Goldstein will play Four Impromptus by Franz Schubert; Sonata 1, x,
1905 “From the Street” by Leos Janácek; and Four Preludes from
Claude Debussys second book of preludes. The recital is free
and open to the public.
Admired for his technical prowess and
his musical intelligence, Goldstein is poised to be a musical leader
of his generation. He earned his masters degree from the Peabody
Conservatory, where he worked intensively with pianist and conductor
Leon Fleisher. He has earned glowing recommendations from several
renowned conductors, including Fleisher, Claudio Abbado, and Zubin
Mehta, among others. He has participated in the Aspen, Marlboro,
Ravinia, and Tanglewood music festivals, and has performed with many
top orchestras, such as the Israeli Philharmonic and the Baltimore
Symphony. Since 1997, Goldstein has been a Performance Fellow at the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
In September, Goldstein played
Beethovens Fourth Piano Concerto with the St. Louis Symphony
under the direction of Peter Oundjian.
Goldsteins recital is the part
of the “Brainerd Commons Presents” series, which is supported by the
Christian A. Johnson Foundation.
Brainerd Commons is part of the
Middlebury College commons system, which divides the campus into five
groups of dorms housing approximately 400 students each.
